Blue Oval City Church Plant

Happy Easter week! We are so thankful for Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, and we look forward with great anticipation to celebrating His resurrection this Sunday.

God has been incredibly kind to us. He is a good Father who does all things well, and He continues to open doors that only He can open. We are striving to give the Holy Spirit room to work, patiently waiting for His leading. It is remarkable what He will do when we allow Him the time and space to move according to His perfect timing.

We are deeply grateful that He is guiding us, rather than relying on our own efforts to make things happen. Our prayer is that we would remain fully dependent on Him in all things.

We have a building!

The Lord has opened a door for us to partner with a ministry that will allow us to use their facility on Sundays. Dr. Spradlin, President of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, has graciously invited us to enter into a partnership with the Seminary. Mid-America has recently relocated from their Cordova campus to Airline Road in Arlington.

They are currently in the process of remodeling the building, and there will be ample space for us to gather and minister to the Arlington community. The facility includes multiple rooms that will allow us to grow over time. Throughout this process, the Seminary has been exceptionally kind and encouraging, and we are truly honored to partner with them in ministry.

At this time, the Seminary is planning to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony upon completion of the renovations on Monday, August 17. We are praying for them as they continue through this process and are excited to look ahead to a future launch date for the church once the Seminary is ready.

Two New Families!

The Lord has been so kind to bring two new families to join us, and we are truly grateful to welcome them.

The first picture is of Wayne and Ruth Ann VanderSteeg. They are a wonderful couple who have already been a tremendous encouragement to us. We are excited to see how the Lord will use them as a vital part of the church’s development.

The second picture is of some of our dear friends, the Wellborn family—Chet, Lauren, Everly, and Lily. It is a joy and an honor to serve alongside them again in ministry.

God has been so gracious in bringing these families, and we are currently meeting with and talking to five additional families. Perhaps the Lord has been stirring something in your heart as well. We would encourage you to spend time in prayer, asking if He may be leading you to join us in ministering to the city of Arlington.

How to Give.

Many of you have given generously, and we are deeply grateful. There are many financial needs ahead, and we are trusting the Lord to provide for each one.

As Dr. Adrian Rogers once said, “The Lord owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and He owns the oil under the hills as well.” We are praying with full confidence that He will supply every need, and we are trusting Him to faithfully provide all that is required.

The Lord has also opened the door for a dear brother to provide us with a storage unit to store supplies and donated items for the church. We are especially grateful for how the Lord has provided so generously through him,  Bellevue, and others, particularly for children’s ministry.

There are still additional items that will be needed. Another way to give is to click the Amazon link below and purchase items that will be used in the children’s area of the church.

If the Lord leads you to financially support the church plant, you can give in either way:

How You Can Pray?

Thank you for praying for us. We have been deeply encouraged by how many of you have reached out to let us know you are praying on our behalf. We are so grateful for your support.

Here are a few specific ways you can continue to pray:

  • That the Lord would go before us in all of our meetings over the next few weeks

  • That He would grant us wisdom and discernment as we consider leadership roles within the church

  • That He would provide for every financial need related to the church

  • That He would grant us unique favor in the city of Arlington

Thank you again for praying with and for us. We are praying for you often, and we love you deeply.

God bless you,

Derek Ewalt
